Our Minister

Graylon A. Freeman is native of Detroit, Michigan. He is a veteran Gospel who has labored in the ministry over 28 years. He received his formal training from the Cameron Ave. School of Preachers in Detroit, Michigan under the instruction of the late Alex Davenport.

He served as the Associate Minister at the church of Christ, Cameron Ave. in Detroit, MI. for five years. He served as the Minister of the church of Christ, Ridgewood in Toledo, OH for five years. He served as the Minister of the church of Christ, Westside in Santa Ana, CA for sixteen years and as the Minister of the church of Christ, Cypress of Cypress, CA having facilitated a merger between the Westside congregation and the Cypress congregation. He currently labors as the ministering evangelist of the church of Christ 13th St. in N.W. Washington. DC. As a part of his evangelism plan, he has instituted a F.E.W. (Future Evangelists of the Word) class wher he trains other in principles of preaching and the doctrine of Christ.

He has proclaimed the gospel on the weekly television broadcast "The Bible Is Right" which was aired throughout Southern Orange County in California, as well as maintained a website. He wrote a weekly - featured article in the Los Angeles Times - Orange County Edition - Religion Section entitled "A Question of Faith". He has conducted gospel meetings, revivals, lectureships, workshops, forums and the like in more than 35 states as well as Nassau, Bahamas.

He majored in art in high school, and at the University of Detroit in Michigan and Marygrove College. He has taught Art Fundamentals at the Normandie Christian School in Los Angeles, CA. He is the CEO of F and F Works, a desktop publishing firm which he founded. He is an author, a graphics designer, and an accomplished artist. He is married to Christine and has 2 children, a son - Matthew Nicolas Freeman, and a daughter - Dallas Destiny Freeman.

Our Assistant Minister

Gene Cooper is a native of Brooklyn, New York. After attending the public schools of Brooklyn, he joined the Navy in August 1981. In 1992, while stationed in San Diego, California, he was baptized into Christ under the leadership of Bro. Marcus Oaks, where Gene soon began to teach and preach. In April 1993, the Navy sent him on a 3 year tour to Naples, Italy which afforded him the opportunity to continue Godís work in Naples. While there, he served as the Associate Minister of the Pinetemareí Church of Christ. In 1994, he became the minister of Pinetemare'.

In April 1996, the Navy sent him to Ceiba, Puerto Rico. Gene continued to preach the gospel while attending night school. He received his Associates in Arts degree from Central Texas College. Capara Street Church of Christ offered him a Ministerís position while in Puerto Rico. Gene accepted the position there, while simultaneously teaching and preaching at two other congregations in Puerto Rico.

In 1999, Bro. Cooper was transferred to Norfolk, Virginia. Upon arriving in Norfolk, he placed membership with the Downtown Church of Christ. During his time at Downtown, he preached and regularly taught the adult classes on Sundays and Wednesdays. While in Norfolk, Virginia, he received his Bachelorís of Arts degree in Education from Columbia College of Missouri. In July 2001, the Navy sent Gene to the Pentagon to work with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. While in Washington, D.C., Bro. Cooper placed membership at the 13th Street Church of Christ. In November 2003, Bro. Cooper was appointed Assistant Minister at 13th Street.

Bro. Cooper is still on active duty in the Navy working at the Pentagon. Gene is married to the former Debra Lynn Walker of San Diego, California. They have one daughter, Cyrenna Lynn Cooper, and two sons, Eugene and Davian.
